Happy Thanksgiving! As I reflect on this past year and the amazing blessings that have brought us this far, I want to thank again all of you who have given so much to Project X. From the hundreds of people who gave thousands of dollars, to our dedicated crew that gave countless hours of hard work, and then also Biola University and Plus8digital—two organizations that have been incredibly generous to us—to all of you, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your gifts, prayers, and support. It's made this film real, it's made this film great, and it's been such a blessing to me as I've worked on this project. We've now been working on Project X for three years and were it not for the support of all of you, I know I would not have been able to finish this difficult race. We are close now—the long post-production process is drawing slowly towards a conclusion—that is to say, the end is in sight. I can't wait to share this film with all of you. Until then, thank you so much and God bless!

—Joshua Sikora

Check out a new gallery of over 50 photos detailing the ambitious construction of our power plant control room set! Built in the weeks leading up to the shoot this past January, the set was one of our largest expenses on the film and was our production home for more than half the shoot. Set designer Nathan Pearsey headed up the difficult, but exciting task. The photos are available in our Multimedia section.

In other news, Aaron Noble, the Project X editor, has completed the first cut of the film. The edit, coming in at 1 hour and 48 minutes, is an exciting accomplishment for our crew. Director Joshua Sikora was thrilled to see the film assembled and is very anxious to continue the post-production process. Noble and Sikora will continue to edit throughout May and June and the other post-production departments are ramping up for a busy summer.

We're still short on funds for post-production. In the coming months, we'll have some expensive equipment rentals and a special opening scene to shoot. If you'd like to contribute to our production, please click here.

The last few weeks have been jam-packed with work for us, but most exciting was that today we captured the 18 hours of footage onto our editing computer. This means that the long, tedious, and exciting editing process can now begin.

Soon, this site will go through a major overhaul as we begin to tailor it more towards the post-production process and providing you with continual updates on our progress. Look for behind-the-scenes videos, photos, and more to show up in the coming months.

We've been richly blessed with many gifts that have gotten us this far. Again, we extend a very special thanks to everyone who's given to this production. Nevertheless, we still face some additional expenses in post-production that you can help us with. Go to this link to help finish funding Project X. Thank you!

And that's a wrap!
Today, production officially ended on Project X. We want to thank everyone on the cast and crew for all of their hard and dedicated work. For many, this was not only the largest and most ambitious film we had worked on, but also the smoothest production many of us had experienced. For everyone, these last few weeks have been an incredible time for growth and learning as we've been stretched beyond our comfort zones to get a taste of what it's like to make a full-scale, feature-length film filled with action and suspense, drama and comedy, visual effects and more.

We would also like to especially thank all of you who gave to this film, either financially or through other gifts. Without your help, we never would've been able to make it this far. Your contributions not only made this film a reality but also gave us one of the greatest learning experiences any of us students could ever ask for. Thank you and may God bless all of you!

And it begins.... The first day of the shoot went off relatively well. We made our day, got wonderful footage, and had a great time! Thanks for all of the encouragement, support, and prayers--we all appreciate it so much!

Today is day of miracles for us. The biggest news is that through the amazing generosity of Marker Karahadian and Michael Toay at Plus8digital, we've been given an amazing deal on a hi-definition camera package for our shoot. Project X will be shot on the Sony HDW-F900, essentially the same camera George Lucas used on Star Wars: Episode II.

In other news, our set construction is well under the way. We're building far and away the largest and most elaborate set Biola University has ever had. A new make-up artist has joined our crew and work continues on the creature's special costume.

Christmas truly is a time of giving and we were blessed with the generosity of many people as more than $2,000 was sent in during the holidays. Thanks to everyone who has given, we're so very close to our production goals. If you'd like to help us meet that goal, please go here.

I hope you had a merry Christmas! Biola University shuts down for Christmas break, so we haven't had any money updates in the last couple weeks. We'll give you all the latest news on January 3. If you haven't had a chance to give, there's still time. Make sure your donation is postmarked by the 31st for it to be counted for 2004's tax year. We'll be accepting donations next year as well. Thanks and Happy New Year!

Our last work day before Thanksgiving break, saw the partial completion of a couple key visual effects tests. Great work by Kevin Christensen in the animation department and Ryan Grant & Peter Borrud in compositing. They're tests are coming along quite well and are further proof that this film is possible.

Sunday, November 21, 2004
Today was our ninth and final day of casting. We've finalized our decisions to cast Christina Rosenberg as Claire Hamilton and Kalimba Bennett as Emily Knight. The parts of David Scott and Cameron Bates will be announced this week.

Writer Joshua Sikora finished Draft 9 of the script today. The 106-page screenplay is a slight expansion on Joshua C. Cullum's 8th draft. Revisions focused on adding more character moments, refining the action scenes, and adapting some of the characters to the actors that have been cast.
