about the film
Enter a new world . . .In the future, we've finally found the secret to living in peace—but there's always a catch. When Daniel is shown the reality of the world he's always known, his beliefs are shaken, but what awaits him outside, he can't begin to imagine.
Drawing from many unique inspirations, award-winning filmmaker Joshua Sikora creates a challenging possible future in this thought-provoking sci-fi fantasy. Working from classic philosophical works—such as Plato's famous "Cave Analogy" and Dante's epic Divine Comedy—Sikora adapts their concepts and ideas into a compelling story of futuristic utopia. Piraeus is a unique, experimental film that portrays for us a picture of education, knowledge, and faith.
Sikora collaborated with creative image-maker Kevin Christensen to create the bold and distinct style for the film. And as the final Monsters of Efficiency production, Piraeus once again showcases the amazing production value that Sikora and his team can pull off with very limited resources.
